It’s a White Pine Celebration

Friends of the White Pine will celebrate the generous donation by Fred Meijer and the paving from Russell Road to Sand Lake on April 26th.  The ceremony will start at 10:30 am.

Preliminary plans for the event include:

  • A ribbon cutting will be held in Sand Lake next to the Independent Bank along the trail.
  • Several dignitaries in attendance including Fred & Lena Meijer, State Senator Mark Jansen, Mindy Koch from the DNR, and other notables who are currently unconfirmed.
  • A golf cart tour of the trail for a few persons including Fred Meijer with Kent County Sherriff escort.  The tour will proceed south from Sand Lake with a brief stop in Cedar Springs, anyone wishing to follow the tour via whatever trail-legal means is welcome.
